Nicole Lawson Dance Projects was created with the vision of creating a space of inclusion where all voices can be heard and respected. We strive to create work that centers the lived experiences of the performers in the creation of work by inviting people of all artistic, social, racial, and political backgrounds to participate in the creative process. We invite the audience in by creating interactive spaces including pieces that call for audience participation, lecture demonstrations, and community talk-backs before and after performances
We create work in response to real events, issues, and questions relevant to the project collaborators and intended audience because we believe that art should be a space for conversation and reflection. We believe that art should make you think, even change you. Our mission is to create art that creates the opportunity and possibility of change in our communities.
